Wool Industry
Wool has been used for garments and other products for centuries. Once mass processing began in the 1800s, production slowly began moving to certain areas and using only certain wool type for production. Many synthetics were combined with wool and chemicals were used for the dying process. Lengthy transports of materials and goods increased the carbon footprint of each item, while many products were made under appalling conditions with devastating impacts on the environment and human respect.
Honeycomb Knits strives to move production back to local roots and create items in collaboration with the local wool. No chemical additives are used in the wool we use. The local wool spinning mill we get our yarn from aims to use a high percent of the original wool fleece. Therefore, there may be some organic material found in your Honeycomb Knits products. This is normal and is a result of less machine and chemical usage in the yarn processing.
